THREE TORPEDOES AT INTERVALS.
LONDON. November 2.
. A samvor of the cruiser Hermes states that she had reached mid-channel when there was a tremendous crash and a shower of splinters. The orew >wero thrown down so violently that many limbs were broken. The first torpedo struck her on. the port side, at the en- ' gino room. Twenty-four minutes . later a second torpedo was seen ooming from a different quarter, and before tho Hermes could manoeuvre ,it struck her amidships. While the crow were ; being taken off, a third torpedo missed .the bows narrowly. There are forty of her crew missing;. t AMSTERDAM. November 2. ' It is stated that the Germans aie mounting caissons capable of firing torpedoes at the entrance to the Ostend wd Zeebrugg© harbours.
