REPLY TO THE POWERS.
DESIRE FOR PEACE EXPRESSED.
AMBASSADORS ON THE POINT OF LEAVING.
(Received November 4th, 1.25 a.m.) BORDEAUX, November 3.
It is officially stated that, in reply io the Entente's demands, Turkey conined herself to proposing to recall the Turkish warships, and expressing a doiire to remain at peace with the Entente. The latter Powers, however, are of opinion that Turkey would have difficulty in remaining passive. Moreover, the proposal would entail tho same disadvantages as open war, since it would compel the iintente to detach portions of their forces to gnard against future aggressions. Turkey not having deemed ft her duty to prove the sincerity of her intentions, the Ambassadors have requested their passports. Advices from Algona, Tunis, and Morocco show that Moslems consider the Porte has abdicated tho sovereignty and independence of the Ottoman .Empire, enabling Germany to pursue her own selfish ends, to the detriment of Islam.
