SUMMARY AND FORECAST.
Mr D. C. Bates, Government Meteorologist, supplied the following weather summary and for-"-as{ at 5 p.m. yesterday: —
Tho weather has been very changonbh> and variable winds have been experienced, strong Goutherlies ruling yesterday evening, with colder weather and heavy showers, especially in the South. The barometer fell yesterday, but rose during tho night, and has fallen again in the; South to-day.
Present indications are for strong -west to | south-west winds, weather unsettled and i squally, especially in and southward of Cook i Strait, with rain probable in those parts. 1 Barometer still unsteady, rkinj, for a short i timo in the ■ North, but falling everywhere- ] fr*.-in after 21 to 30 hours.
