BOER COMMANDER STANDS BY THE GOVERNMENT.
(Received Octobor 30th, 12.30 a.m.) CAPETOWN, October 28 Major Brand, an ex-Republican general, in command of twelve hundred men at tho Tempie camp, called his commando together, announced the re-, bollion, recalled the Vereeniging treaty to which Beyers and Do Wet were sig : atories, . and said that howover bitter that war had been, he would not take up arms against his own people. It was his holy duty to stand by the Government. Ho offered a free pass to any member of tho commando desiring to" return home instead of proceeding to German South East Africa. Only four applied.
