It is stated that tho thock of injuries following long marches and laborious trench work on insufficient food, produces dangerous physical depression, and if this wore, immediately relieved, many lives would bo saved.
Tho Archbishop of Canterbury, speaking at Bromley, said tho country ivas in gravo danger of a serious breakdown in regard to intemperance, duo to friends "treating" soldiers, in tho belief that they wore giving them kindly encouragement, and tho increase of insobriety among women whoso men woreat tho front, due to excitement and distress. As a result of their anxiety for news, women crowded into hotels, not for the sake of drink, but seeking information. »
