DLSCRIMINATTON AGAINST GERMAN PRODUCTS.
PERTH, Octabor 26. Following upon a disorderly demonstration against the German Club, the authorities have closed the club. SYDNEY, October 27. At a picnic held at a Riverina centre, largely composed of Germans, the German flag: was hoisted. A, policeman present was asked to obtain tho removal of tho flag to provent trouble, but before this could be accomplislicd, a few Britishers present pulled the flag down and destroyed it. While tho City Council Electrio Lighting Committee wero discussing tho acceptance of tenders, Alderman (who is also Speaker of the Legislative Assembly) movrd :—"That during the continuance of the war 10 p/sr cent, oreferonco be given to Em-pire-made articles." Other councillors strongly approved of tho principle, some favouring preference all tho time. - It was stated that 90 per cent, of the firms"trading in electrical goods in England wero actually German companies.- and tho Council would need to exercise caution in allotting tenders. Tho matter was left in tho hands of a sub-committee. MELBOURNE, October 27. Tho City Council discussed the Electrical Supply Committee's report in connexion with extension plant to cost £71,000. It was decided that tendors bo called for British-made, machinery, and that no tender in which German or Austrian capital or work was concerned would bo considered.
Since the Government fixed tho price at «s (M per bushel, no wheat has como forward, and millers are feeling the pinch.
