LABOUR DAY.
Labour Day will bo observed to-day an a close holiday. Fixtures for tho day comprise the Labour picnic ut Hagley Park, near Victoria Lake, opening of tho smf bathing season at Now Brighton at 2.30 p.m., golf matches at ShirIcy and Now Brighton, tenuis match (Opawa v. Linwood) at Opawa, Canterbury Automobile Association's lullclimbing contest at German Bay, "Pioneer Motor and Sports' Club's side-car reliability trials to "Waikari aud back, cricket match at Hagley Park (Canterbury Coilego v. Sir Cecil Moon's team), bowling matches at Canterbury and Sy'dohhum greens, patriotic, demonstrations and .sports at Kaiapoi, Cust,. Kirwee, and Southbridge, tramway excursions to Sumner, Now Brighton, and Cashmere Hills, harbour excursions at Lyttelton, and tiie -usual picture shows in the afternoon and evening. SPECIAL TEAM SEBVICES. To-day the tramway services will be a.s follow: —Holiday timetable (15 minutes' e-ervice) will bo run 0:1 Cashmere Hills, Edge-rare road, Sumner, and "Wools-ton lines; half-Lour service will bo run to and from Nov.- Brighton, via Burwood and North Beach, leaving Squaro at 11 and 41 minutes past each hour from 9.11 a.m. to 7.41 p.m.. and leaving NewBrighton pier via Burwood at 28 and oS minutes past each hour from 9.2S a.m. to G.uS'n.m. Ordinary timo-tablo before and after these times. The ordinary timo-tablo will be suspended between the above times, and all cars will run through to the beach. Detailed time-tablo will bo r-ostcd for public inspection at Cathedral square (shelter aud Bank of New Zealand corner) and New. Brighton pier. Tho 20 minutes service to New Brighton between 5 p.m. and 6 n.m. will be cancelled, and cars will leave at 5.12, 5.42, and G. 12 from Saltan-:, and 5.44, 6.11. and 6.44 p.m. from New Brighton.
