BOOTH AND CO. v. BOWRON BROTHERS.

Tho defendants in this case. Messrs Bowron Bros-., havo filed a counterclaim, in which they claim £20.000 damages, alleging that Messrs Booth and Co., London, failed to safely keep tho defendants' skins, and to obtain trust receipts for skins, which in tho course of business were harded to them by Booth and Co. for treatment. Tho defendants aro therefor© seeking to throw upon Messrs Booth and Co. the- responsibility for tho losses arising from the Phconix wharf frauds in respect of which John Allen Bowron and J. L. Knight, wharf manager, were convicted on charges of con«piracy at tho Central Criminal Court, J/ondon, in July. 1911. Apparenththese losses are the- same as Messrs Booth in their statement of claim allege the defendants to be liable for.
