At tho monthly meeting of the belwyn Couutv Council, there were present:—Mr K. Wilson (chairman), and Crs. Hockridgc, Payne, Watson, Westenra. Hall, and Andrew. Leave of absence was granted Cr. MurcnisonTho'resolution passed at the last meeting, striking .a rate of fivo-.igbtlus of a penny in tho i., was confirmed, It was decided to call tenders tor 800 yards of shi_glo for tho Ardlui road, 400 yards for the Duns.ndel road, for repairs to tho Glenttmnel bridge, and for grubbing gorso on the proposed road to givo access to Run 88. It was decided that a special meeting be held at noon on August 10th for the purpose of passing a resolution making by-laws for regulating motor traffic Mr Geo. Derrert wrote, drawing attention to the flooded condition of his I land, caused by the growth, of weeds aud other obstruction in the creek below his property, aud 'as_ed the C .unci! to exercise it. authority under the Land Drainage Act, by compelling the owners below his property to remove tho weeds, etc., so as.to give the water a clear aud uninterrupted flow. It was decided to trive tho necessary notices. The Auditor-Genoral returned the bal-ance-sheet for the year ending March ..Ist,■■-.!_.-. Tho Public Trustee wrote, stating- that the interest on sinking funds had been inc-eascd to 4-i per cent, on tho firet £6000, and 4} per cent, on the excess as from April Ist, 1914. Tho chairman and Cr. Andrew were -appointed tho Council's delegate. to attend a conference in connexion with the prorosal to form a Local Counties Association. The Ministor of Public Works wrote, forwarding a copy of an Order-in-Council, declaring the Coalgate Gorge road a county road. It was decided to request tho Department to have the road put in as _ood order _s it was before tite Lake heavy traffic commenced. The Minister of Railways wroto regarding tho erection and maintenanco of warning boards at level crossings.
