NORTH CANTERBURY GUN CLUB.
MEETING OP COMMITEE. ' The committee of the North Canterbury Gun Olub met at Rangiora on Thursday] -Mr B. Edwards (president) presiding. It wae decided to shoot for the trophy grren by I>r. Will on Thursday, July 30th, and for the trophy presented by Mr J. G. McDonald on Saturday, Jiiiy IBth. Th© £50 sparrow match, decided on at the last meeting, wae fixed for Monday, August 17th, at 10.30 a.m., subject to the consent o£ the Association, and that it be a 15-bird match. The prize money was allotted as follows:— First, £30; second, £12 10s'; third, £9; fourth, £2, 10s. It was decided to approach Mr J. W. Caseon to act as handicapper and Teferee. Thirteen new members were elected, bringing tho total membership up to 76. -The secretary was instructed to write to Dr. Will and 3£r J. G. McDonald, thanking them for their gifie of trophica. SWEEPSTAKE MATCHES. A club sweepstake was held on Thursday afternoon (six sparrows), for which there were seventeen entries. G. Hamilton retired, in the fifth round, leaving sirtten in jthe final. H. Truscott, E. J. Bekcr and H. Ensor concluded tho match with five birds each, and agreed to divide tie etakea. A six-bird cl*y pigeon match was afterwards held, there being ten entries. . A. Prestney and EL Ensor retired in tho third round, and H. Truscott and J. Skillinjrin the fourth round, leaving six competitors in .the finaL A. Baines and J. McCricken secured five-..birds each, and agreed to divide the stakes. - «
