Bates, Government Meteorologist, supplied tho following weather summary and forecast at 5 p.m. yesterday: — An area, of westerly low pressure rules, but probably owing to tho existence of two storm centres of a similar nature, the wind and weather conditions have been somewhat neutralised. The weather has been cloudy and foggy generally. Present indications wo for cloody, misty, and unsettled weather, with rain probable gener&lly. Tho barometer is likely to fall further, bnt is duo* io rise by to-morrow night. Expect high north-westerly winds, changing to south-westerly, and colder weather following, with enow on the higher levels in +ho South Island.
