ST. SAVIOUR'S GUILD.
ANNUAL RISPORT.
The; annual report of St. Saviour's traild, the/ governing body of St. Saviour's Orphanage, to be presented at the. annual meeting on Wednesday next, refers again to the unsuitability and inadequate accommodation of the Orphanage. The executive committee trusted that tho time was not far off when active endeavours would be initiated for replacing the present structure by a larger and more suitable building. The need for (greater accommodation was very pressing, indeed, as the limit of capacity had been reached, and the fresh cases which were continually being brought under their notice could not be provided for. "T*i 6 necessity for a Boys' Department, the committee states, "is everpresent, and we earnestly appeal to tho members of the Church to recognise their responsibility, and provide the^ means for a commencement .to be made in this direction. We would commend to the consideration of all the c l°smg remarks in the Pastoral Letter or His Lordship the Bishop:—'lf every churchman would give to the support ,of theso orphan children sixpence a year for each member of his family, there would be no more struggle for existence, and within the next two years we could build and open tne longdesired home for boys. Surely churchpeople will do that much, for the love of the children, for the love of the Church, for the love of Him Who died to save us all.' "
The receipts for the year totalled £1666 18s 3d. 3lore than half thia sum was accounted for by subscriptions and donations (£573 13s), and offertories (£365 8s 3d). Other considerable items were: Grants from the Government £200, and from the Synod £125, and payments for children £i/2 5s 6d. The surplus remaining after providing for the expenses of maintenance was applied to the repayment of the mortgage on the Orphanage (£SOB 7s 6d), and a . credit balance remained on March 31st of £87 6s Bd. rhe report of the house committee stated that the number of cMld-en- in th«» Home at present was 47, of whom seven were boys. The health of the children had been, on the whole, good. The .staff was working ratMaetorily and loyally under Sister Rose.
