AN ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR, TRIAL. (press association- telegram.) AUCKLAND, Juno 12. A complete sot of moulds for making counterfeit sovereigns, half-crowns, and shillings was discovered at tbe residence of a man named Frederick A. Smith, on the Hairini Settlement, near Te Awamutu, in tho Waikato. I * The police found m the whare twelve I sets of moulds for making- half-crowns, i one for sovereigns, and three for shillings; also a quantity of lead and | solder, a number of files and rasps, ladles, and coins. Theso were seized by , the police, who have described the coi_s as excellent work, their baseness only being detected by tho ring of 'the coin; Smith appeared before the Court at Te Awamutu on a chargo of making and attempting to utter counterfeit coin. The defence was in the .direction of proving that accused was not sane. He was committed for trial at Hamilton.
