. A meeting of the Upper Orari River Board was held in the offices of tho Temuka Road Board yesterday. p re . sent: Messrs W.-G. Aspinall (chairman), W. F. Evans, W. Mason, and Colonel K. Mackenzie. Mr. James A. Kelman wrote that ho owned no property in the Board's district, and gave" the names of the trustees concerned in the property in question, aad in connexion with which notice had been served to clear the river-bed. Tho Board resolved to ooint out to Mir Kelman that the notice was sent to him as a trustee. The clerk-overseer reported that 15 chains of protective fencing were required at Quantock's, and 18 chains at Crowe's, to prevent further nver encroachment. The chairman said that the matter was serious, and it was resolved to call tenders for the work, to ho to hand by the 24th, and to apply for the GoTernment Grant of £200 as soon as the work is completed. Tho action of. the chairman, Mr Mason, and the clerk, in authoris- j ing Mr Richards to proceed -with the
-work of repairing the breach in the upper embankment, at a cost of £20. was approved, Mr R. H. Obeli notified the transfer of his Geraldine proSjrty to Mr J. W. Macdonaid. Mr olleston, the Board's solicitor, for* warded a copy of the notice to be served on j>roperty-owners to clear river-beds in accordance with tho Drainage Act Amendment of last year, and the Board gave the clerk the necessary instruction to serve tho notices.
