The Supremo' Court was occupied all day to-day hearing two cases arising out of tne Siiaw bankruptcy. In ono the plaintiff claimed the release of a mortgage for £300, which he said he had paid to Shaw as agent for the lender, but the latter had never received it. The other was a very complicated cross deal in houses, negotiated by Shaw, and cut short by bis bankruptcy, the plaintiff claiming for specific performance. Eight lawyers • ere engaged in this case, including Mr Raymond. K.C., and Mr A. S. Adams, of Dnnedin. Decision was reserved in both cases.
