The rescue by the fire brigade was exciting and very difficult, naving to be effected from the windows overiooking a giass roof verandah. One woman and three children were safoly rescued, but Mrs Carter, who is in a delicate condition, jumped oat of tho anas of £he fire superintendent and fell through the glass roof, and received a severe cet on the thigh. Sne is suffering from severe shock/. The actual damage to the premi&es is not serious.
