SHIPPING NOTES.

The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tainui is to leave for Timaru thin morning at daylight. Following is a summary,, of the Homeward ' cargo lifted while in port:— 5139 carcases of frozen meat, 1583 sacks of produce, 882 bales of wool, 968 c»sk» of tallow and pelts, 242 boxee of honey, *44 packages of sundries, 11 crat-oe of cheese, 200 caw 9 of kidneys, and 150 crates of harea. Homeward bound, the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tokomaru left Monte Video on Friday evening laet. ' The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Athenie, which left Wellington on April 23rd, airived at Plymouth on Saturday morning. The Federal and Shire liner, Durham, is expected from Timaru to-morrow morning to complete loading for Avonmouth. She is to leavo here for tho Home port on Saturday next. Loading operations on the Commonwealth and Dominion liner, Muritai, are taking 1 longer than was anticipated The vessel is now expected to be despatched for London this evening or to-morrow. She_ is to be bunkered by the s.a. Pnkaki; which ie duo to-day from the "West Coast. The Bteamer Southport, due 'shortly at Lyttelton to discharge cargo from New York, will subsequently proceed to Ocean Island to load phosphates for Rotterdam. - ■ Running under charter to the American and Australian Line, the steamer Stolzenfols left .New York on Friday last forv Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The steamer Whakarua, which was recently at Lyttelton with cargo from New York,' has bet-n chartered to load wheat, in Aubtralia for the United Kingdom or the Continent. * . •

After etayiny at Newcastle for' over six weeks,, the new steamer Holtze got' away recently for Brisbane, in continuation of her voyage from Now York This lengthy stop at the New South Wales port was dno to special gear having to be erected to diecharge several very heavy weights. Having been placed in the MelbourneNew Zealand eervioe, the Union Company's steamer Mokoia, which recently has been enraged in the service between Sydney and Hobart, is due from the Victorian port, via Hobart, Bluff and Dunedin, on Thunsday next. Tho vessel leaves for Wellington the same day, and, after transhipping Sydney carpo to the ia due back at Lyttelton on h«r return trip to Melbourne, on Saturday next. » Captain C. The Poherua is to leave to-day for Timcru, to complete discharge of her cargo from the West Coast. Madden, hit© of the Wairuna, and now second officer of the Poherua, has been sneoossful in his examination at Melbourne for a ■ chief officer's certificate.
