CHRISTCHURCH SPORTS CLUB.
Tho committee of the Chrietchurch Sports Club met last evening. Present—Meesrs E Nordon (chairman), W. G. Atack, T. Robson, 1. E, Graham, and H. B. Gould (secretary). The chairman reported that negotiations ■were proceeding for the sale of tho club's section in Armagh etreet, and Tecommendej that the matter be still left in the eub-com-mittee'e hands. Tide wae agreed to. Leave of absence for a month wae granted Mr A. Dickson, owing to ill-health. The secretary reported that there was a deficit o£ £12 10s on the recent tournament the. total receipte being £110 9s. The chairman said that considering the cirenmetancee the tournament cou!d be coneidered a succe/4. It was resolved to nominate Mr T. Sampson for the position of referee for the New Zealand championshipe at Wanganui. Mes&re Nordon and Rooson were delegated to represent the club at the annual conference of the various Associations in connexion with the championships. The weights for the various classes were stated to be as follow:—Bantam Bst 21b feather 9st, light 10st, welter lOst Blb, middle list 4lb. It was decided to instruct the club's delegates to move at the conference that the next championships be allotted to Christchurch, the last occasion on which tho championships were held here being , in 1808. The date for clocing entries for the Cant-er-Trary Provincial Chanipkmahips wae fixed for Thureday, July 9th. The New Zealand Council wrote granting permission for the club to match J. Ha<»erty and P. Cook for the lisht-weight chamnionphip during Grand National week, on Tuesday, Ausrust 11th. providing Hagerty still held the title. It wae resolved to hold the club's tournament on the Tuesday and Thursday nign»a of that week. It wae decided to call on N. Vernall and W. Ireland to arjoeax before the committefs on Monday evening next, nt 7.30, to show cause why they should "not bo disqualified in connexion with their bout at -the club'e recent t'-urnamt-nt. It was decided to endeavour to arrange a welter-weight match for the Thursday nijrht of Nat : onal Week between G/Oteen "ar& >A Mitchell, both of Auckland, for the Welter Championship if Denny Murphy had th«)n not l»ft New Zealand, and if th» failed to try and bring H. Marquet, of Auckland, and G. Matthewson, of Duocdin, together.
