OPEN-AIR HOMES FOR CHILDREN.

At tho public meeting at Linwood, on Friday afternoon, an executive committee was formed, of which Mrs J. B-. Brunt was appointed president, Jfns f. J. Board treasurer, and Misses' Sponoe and Early joint-eeo •.irios. The oxecutivo havo convened another meeting, to be held at tho Linwood Library, this afternoon, at" 8.30, when. it is hoped that thd committee will be largely increased in numbers by those willing to assist in*the good work. It is proposed to diyido tho district into abont 16 sab-districts, with a captain to take charge of each, and it is expected that fully 50 ladies will form a working committee

The Mayor of Sumner, Mr G. W. C. Smithson, has called a public meeting in aid of the fund for Open-Air Homoj fbr Children, for eight o'clock thi* evening. The meeting will be held in tho Town Hall, and among tho speakers will bo Dr. G. J. Blackmore/ Medical Director of "North Canterbury Tuberculosis institutions.

On Friday, Dr. Blackmoro and Rome members of tho general committee of the Open-Air Homes for Children League, will go out to Amberley, at Mr G. D. Greenwood's invitation, to inspect the proposed site at Teviotdalo offered by Mr Greenwood to his Worship tho Mayor.'
