On Thursday night Mr 8. Saunders was entertained by a large gathering of tho publishing and distributing staffs of tho Lyttelton Times Company, and presented with a nurse of sovereigns. - Mr T. Robhon presided. On Tuesday evening tho employees of Messrs A. and T. Burt, Ltd... mado a presentation to Mr H. Shanks, who is eevenng his connexion with the firm alter ten years' servk-o. A number of complimentary speeches were made, and .Mr Shanks suitably responded. Mr H. O. F. Marsdeu, late secretary of the Colonial Carrying Co., Ltd., has been appointed secretary of tho Westport Stockton Coal Co., Ltd., of Christchureh. Mr Marsden left v»ellington on a visit to Sydney by too Moeraki yesterday, prior' to taking up his new duties.
