HASTINGS, Jun© 5. At the annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay Licensing Committee today, all licenses wero. renewed with tho . exception of one, which was extended for six months, pending completion of repairs and alterations. Tho police report was favourable except in tho case of a country hotel, whero it was alleged Sunday trading and gambling for drinks were carried on. The licensee was warned. The committee called attention to the need of better night attendance at the local hotels, and pointed out to h'censees their duties as innkeepers, which compelled them to provide bed and board for travellers at any hour of the day or night. Cases had been brought under notice whero people called soon after the ordinary meal hour and wero told that the meal was over and they could not he supplied. It was also the duty of licensees to attend to travellers arriving late but at some of the hotels in Hastings this was not done. The duties of a licensee did not end with tho closin-. or the bar.
