CHRISTCHURCH MUSICAL SOCIETY.

On Tuesday next, in His (Majesty's Theatre, the Christchureh Musical Society will give its first subscription concert. Lovers of oratorio will again welcome the reappearance of Mendelssohn's "Elijah," more especially on account of the principal parts being taken by well-known soloists. Mr "W. Handel Thorley, the conductor, has brought the choru& up to a high standard of efficiency, and with the assistance of the Orchestral Society the performance on Tuesday evening should be a very successful'one. The principal soloists will be Madame GowerBurns, Mrs Ernest Firth, Mr John Prouso, and Mr "William Jones. Minor parts will be taken by Miss Parsons and Miss Lezard.
