Mr B V. Pemberton, Acting-Government Meteorologist, supplied tho following weather nummary and forecast at 5 p.m. yesterday: — Barometric "pressure has increased in tho south, but ..is still below normal everywhere. Strong west 'to south-westerly winds have prevailed, and the weather baa been generally,unsettled, and showery. Much snow has falien on the higher 'levels in tho South Island. Present indications'are for strong southerly winds and cold, squally, and showery weather.' The "barometer is. likely to rise everywhere, and high- barometric pressure will follow shortly.
