TO-DAY'S CELEBRATIONS
Tho 4J?th anniversary of tho birth of his Majesty the King will be celebrated in Christchureh to-day, which will bo observed as a holiday.
The troops of tho Christchureh Garrison will parade at King Edward Barrackr, at 8 a.m., and will march to Hagley Park, where a salute will be fired by the E. Battery. Ihero, will also bo a march past the flag. The Senior Cadets will parade in Cranmer Square at 5.15 a.m.
In the afternoon, the Hon. R. Heato_ Rhodes, Minister of Public Health, will open the King Georgo V. Coronation Memorial Hospital for Consumption.
The following aro the sports fixtures:—Trotting at Plumpton Park. Football: Rugby Seven-a-side tournament at Lancaster Park. Association: Brown Shield, West land v. Canterbury at Richmond Park. Hockey: Canterbury v. South Canterbury, Ashburton v. Canterbury, and Five-a-side tournament, Sydenham Park. Ladies' Hockey: Six-a-side tournament, Polo grounds, Hagley Park. Golf: Christchurch v. Ashburton, at Shirley; Medal Handicap, Richmond Hill Club. During the afternoon the following amusements will be provided: —Queen s Continuous Pictures, Grand Continuous Pictures. Opera House, Brenan-Fuller Vaudeville Co. AT THE POST OFFICE. The Vancouver mails are expected to arrive at 8 a.m., and there will be a delivery over tho counter of all correspondence between 10 and 11 a.m.
