RESOLUTION BY DUNEDIN PRESBYTERY.
(.srxaxL to ••thk pubss.") BUNEDIN, Juno 2. The J>uneciin Presbytery this afternoon unanimously carried the following motion, moved by Professor Dickie, of Knox College:—"This meeting pledges itself to support the platform of the Bible-tn-Stato-Sehools League, agreed upon by successive General Assemblies of the ChJßrch, and requests that a referendum of the whole people of the Dominion be taken upon the question. This meeting expresses the oonvicfcion that inasmuch as the referendum lias been repeatedly requested by the respective governing Courts rof four denominations, representing per cent. of the population, which request has been reiterated by the constituencies of these denominations and further endorsed by a request in writing signed by upwards of 140/ XX) individual electors, the Government is more than amply justified in facilitating the wishes of such a largo proportion oF the people. Moreover, as the request is not asking the Government to decide on the merits of the League's proi>osale. but to allow the peoplo of the Dominion to ' ~a© to a decision themselves on the matter, this meeting would regret any action on the part of the Government which, by leaving the question standing over, would thereby constitute it a disturbing factor at the next general election."
