(Note.—Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— Mutton—Market steady, and prices well maintained. There has been more inclination to purchase mutton during the past week. Canterbury 4Jd for light-weight. Better demand for heavy-weight at 3ld. North Island 4 13-'lGd for light-weight. Lamb—Market very firm. Better demand for heavy-weight. on account of high prices of English mutton. Canterbury lamb, two's 6fd, heavy-weights 6J-d, other than Canterbury 6id for light-weight. Beef —Market quiet, with no alteration in prices. New Zealand hinds 4Jd, fores 3Jd. Chilled beef in moderate supply. Hinds s_d, fores 3Jd. Butter —Market steady. Danish quiet at 113s to 115s; exceptionally choice 116s. New Zealand firmer at 107s to lOSs; exceptionally choico 110s. Australian 100s to 104s. ■ Siberian in moderate supply at 98s to 102s. Irish creamery slow at 105s to 108s. Cheese —Market firm, with upward tendency. Canadfan stock almost exhausted, 68s to 70s per cwt. New Zealand market firmer, with fair demand. White 59s 6d to 60s 6d, coloured 63s to 645. Australian white 57s to 595, coloured 60s to 625. English Cheddar (new make) 62s to 68s. -. English Cheddar loaf (new make) 68s to 725. Cheshire (new make) 60s to 655.

Hemp—Market rather unsettled on account of Mexican position. . New Zealand good fair per ton £26 10s, fair £23 10s. June to August shinments, good fair £26 15s, fair £23 1.8. Prices nominal. Manila-fair current £26 10s, June to Augnst shipments £26 15s. Prices nominal. Output from Manila for the week was 29,000 bales.

Hops—Market steady, and holders firm. No change in prices. Wheat —Market steady, but demand only moderate.

Oats-r Market firmer, and demand becoming better. Stock is being reduced. Beans —Market has advanced. Peas —Market firm. Cocksfoot—Market quiet.
