SCENE THAT BAFFLED DESCRIPTION. The scene immediately after the collision baffled description; the shrieks of the passengers, who were rudely awakened from their slumbers, the hoarse cries of the captain and officers, the wailing of the women, mingled with the rushing of water into the gulf opened up in the boat. There was htfcle time to launch the boats.
