4109 CONVERTS AT ONE MISSION
CHAPMAN-ALEXANDER MISSION. Writing to Mr "William Buckingham, of Sydney, Mr Ralph Norton, of the Chapman-Alexander mission party, says:—"Wβ have seen in Scotland this winter, I think, the most remarkable work that it has ever been our , privilego to witness. On one of the closing nights of the first mission in Glasgow Mr Alexander Sloan 3 the chairman of the committee, and one of the most prominent business men of the city, stated that there had been 10,800 'professed conversions. This was the night that the converts had been asked to attend the »neeting in a body, and not only was St. Andrew's Hall, seating 4000 people, filled, but three neighbouring churches. They passed by in review, and shook hands with Dr. Chapman, and after the thousands had passed Mr Sloan stated that there had never been anything as marvelous in the history of Scotland. The work in Edinburgh was, I believe, even more wonderful, for we were only there seven weeks, and we were twelve weeks in Glasgow, and there were over 8000 professed conversions."
An American paper reporte that fonr thousand one hundred and nine converts were won during a Union mission heid in the city of Hutchinson. The. missioner was Dr. Chas.
