HAYWARD'S PICTURES.

By the regular change in the programme made last evening there was presented at His Majesty's Theatre a new set of films of decided merit. In the first half of the programme tho items of interest included the always popular "Graphic," an interesting natural history film depicting the life of tbe toad, the frog, and the salamander, a travel film dealing with the Eskimos of Siberia, and two more than usually amusing ciniics. The "Graphic" contained incidents in the funeral of the murdered editor of the "Figaro" and an impressive set of films illustrative of the trouble in Ulster. Of tho comics "A Lesson in Jealousy" was exceptionally funny. Tho second half of the programme was devoted in its entirety to a magnificent representation of Anthony Hope's "Prisoner of Zenda." No pains have been spared in the production of this film, and the result is satisfying in every way. The main plot of the story is well known, and the many sensational and striking situations which occur in the course of the successful impersonation of the king by his "double" aro dramatically and successfully handled. The novel lends itself to successful dramatisation, and the producing company has realised tho possibilities of the work in a very able manner. Tho conflict between love and duty which comes at the end of tho film is admirably portrayed, and puts a pathetic conclusion to a very romantic story. The same programme will be screened tlrrs evening. Not the least enjoyable part of last evening's programme was the • ad-mirable-playing by the orchestra under Mr W. F." Whitley of "Faust" and "Tho Imp."
