CONSUMPTIVE TEACHERS.
TO THI EDITOR OT "iHI TRESS.'' Sir,—ln last Saturday's "Press" T read : the report of tho meeting, "How to deal with Consumption." 1 would take too much space in your paper to peruse all. But what strikes mc most forcibly is the overcrowding of schools, etc. But they overlook the one fact, that neither the Board of Education nor School Committee do their duty in regard to the welfare of the children's health. In this way: in a good many cases, they do not select healthy teachers: in fact, in some cases, the teachers themselves are consumptive, almost incurable. These •teachers come in contact with tfcb children day, after day, in connexion with their lessons. If tho disease is as bad as one is led to believe', why are these teachers in charge of the schools? It is not only the disease in , the school, but teachers cannot possibly have 'the spirit to set the example which we all expect, and if wo have not vigorous teachers to set this good example, what will the result be? T brine this to a close, hoping that a more able pen will carry on this matter, for the of the younger generation.—Yours, etc., WELFARE OF THE YOUNGER GENERATION.
