(By Cable—Press Asiaciation.—Copyright.) LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, -day 15. At tho wool sales there was a good sale, prices reaching the highest level of tbo series. (Received May 17th. 5.5 p.m.} LONDON. May 16. The wool sales havo closed. During the series. 117,500 bales wore sold for the Home lua.i.ot, 40,000 for tho Continent, and 24,000 lor America, whilst 5000 were held over. Merinos steadily hardened, with a good average price. Combings closed at ! i'ullv 7. per cent, above, tho March rates. Snort iaulties showed a 5 per cent, advance. Choicest showed little change. All fine crossbreds and choicest of mediums were keenly competed for by Continental and United States buyers at fully a penny advance. All coarse grade shabby mediums remained about unchanged, though .they showed a hardening tendency the last few days. Slipes were in keen demand. Tho best advanced by a halfpenny, and scoured by a halfpenny to a penny. Lambs and merinos were firm and unchanged, and : crossbreds irregular. "Seedy parcels I were in buyers' favour. Free sorts ad- : vanced by 5 per cent. Tho sales included:—Erewhon, top price I2*d. average prico 11.d; Terina, 12d and ll'd; Ewhea, 13.d and ll|d; Titi, lid and 11-.d; and Ornamatua, lid and 13d.
