LAWYERS AT PLAY.
The annual matches played by members of the Canterbury District Law Society took place at Hagley Park yesterday, eight teams being engaged. There was a fair attendance of spectators during the afternoon. Tennis ana bowls Tvero also indulged in by a few enthusiasts. Interest centred ( in the match. Secretary's Team v. Treasurer's Team. Vice-President's match, the former batted first, and ecored 139 (Conlan 19, Goodman 71, Ross 26, Brown 13), and the Vice-Pre-sident's made 93 (Mansell 16, Lord 25, Watts 13). President's won on the first innings. In the- Hereford street v. Rest of Christchurch Laws Clerks game, tho former made 273 (Bowden 53. Piercy 31. Rowe 70, Thomas not out 28, Godfrey 47) Rest of Christchurch replied with 133 (Corbett 42, Barnett 21, MoKay not out 25), and 98 (Patterson 34, Cameron 13, Amodeo not out 16). Hereford street won by an innings and 42 runs. In the B team's game, Rest of Christchurch totalled 146 (Borrows 30, Daly 11 Archer 29, Andrew not out 46, White 11), and 78 (Borrows 36, Andrew 10, White 10). Hereford street made 111 (C. Hill 15, Prebble 33, Hill not out 30) and 38 for no wickets (Hill not out 28).
