MOVEMENT TO EXTRADITE KENDALL.

(By Cable.—P-esi Association.— Copjri«i*) CAPE TOWN, March 13. The Indemnity Bill has been read a third tirce in the Senate. General Smuts stated that though the deported men did not have a trial in the ordinary sense, they had had eeveral weeks' trial before Parliament, and had therefore received substantial justice. General Smuts informed the Assembly that there was no special agreement indemnifying the owners of tho steamer Uuigeni against any action thnt the mon might take. The owners had received ordinary passenger fares for the men, with £1001) as compensation for loss of freight. A movement is contemplated to secure tho extradition of Kendall, one of the strike leaders who' was to have been deported but escaped to Australia. The proposed application for extradition arises from admissions alleged to have been made by Kendall in Australia. The Minister for Justice drew the attention of tho Transvaal AttorneyGeneral to these admissions, with A view to his taking action.

Nineteen out of twenty-three Labour candidates were elected to tho Transvaal Provincial Council, the victories ia most cases being by overwhelming majorities. In the Rhodesian elections, pro--Chfirtered Company candidates wero elected at Salisbury and Bulawayo.
