Mr Andrew Fisher, Leader of the Opposition, in opening his pre-sessional campaign, appealed to the Government to go to the country, but said ho considered that there could be nothing more ridiculous than a double dissolution. If the Senate was dissolved it would become a shuttlecock for the political parties and keep the democracy in a state of constant turmoil. This would suit the Government, who would welcome any excuse for doing nothing.
