RHODESIA.

THE CHARTERED COMPANY

"A GANG OF SWTXDLERS."

(By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.)

(Received March 17th, 11.20 p.m.) LONDON. March 17. Mr Swift McNeill, in the House of Commons, drew attention to Sir L. S. Jameson's action in telling the settlers in Rhodesia, on the authority of tho Colonial Office, that they must vote for a renewal of the charter, or be included in the South African Union. Mr McNeill descrihed the Chartered Company as a gang of swindlers. Mr Harcourt, in reply, said Sir L. S. Jameson's quotation from the letter written by the Colonial Office was wholly divorced from the context. There was no justification for its use for electioneering purposes.
