RAILWAY WORKERS' STRIKE.
CURIOUS SITUATION IN AUSTRALIA. (By Ca-le.—Press Association.—Copyright.) PERTH, March 17. Recently a portion of the work on the Trans-Australian railway was let by contract, in spite of strong protests by Labour organisations and the Opposition in the Federal House. The contractors are now paying higher wages than the Government, and the men employed by tho Government struck yesterday.
All work except that which is being done by contract is held up.
