SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
NEW BRIGHTON.
The monthly meeting oi the Xew Brighton School Committee was held last night. Present—Messrs J. Rides (in the chair). C. Israelsou. J. Skinner, H. Goodland. A. P. Hopkins, and G. W. Bishop. The headmaster reported that the roll number was 102. and the average attendance 371. Correspondence was received from*.the New Brighton Burgesses' Association, applying for the ti6e of the schoolroom to-mor-row evening.—Granted. Votes oi thanks were accorded Messrs E. Smith and Madderu Bros., for their assistance in the matter of the annual school picnic. Messrs T. Rides and A. P. Hopkins were appointed visiting committee for the month. The secretary was instructed to make arrangements for the nroper heating of the infants' school, in view of the coming winter. It was decided to empower the headmaster to purchase .sets ot pictures illustrating -.tii'lii"- from nature. With reference to the Easter holiday*, it wa decided to <|u>o tlie schi.ol from Thursday till Tue-dav. The headmaster nresented a statement "i receipt* and expenditure., in connexion with the picnic, showing a credit ot £2 !.-> lid.
