GRAND THEATRE.

"Renunciation." was the big feature in the new programme at the Grand Theatre yesterday. It wa.s a drama with a good story. John and Burt aro chums. Both have graduated at College. While Burt has chosen a business career in the city, John ha. taken on farming. John, tho farmer, falls in lo~e with Grace, and they become engaged. Burt is going the pace in the city, and his doctor orders him away to the country. He decides to go to Arizona, where John is. On his arrival he is smitten with Grace's charms, and his _pve is reciprocated. John discovers them lovcmaking. and there is a scene wherein Grace professes her love for Burt, which ends in their marriage. John is brokenhearted, and becomes a monk in a monastery. After some years Burt deserts his wife and child, and Ls caught in the act of horse stealing. He is chafed by the cowboys, and makes for the monastery, where he is received by John the monk, who protects hira irom the infuriated cowboys. Burt only discovers who his benefactor is after the departure of the cowboys. John succeeds in inducing Burt to turn over a new ieaf, and husband and wife, and child are reconciled once more. The picture is beautifully photographed, the setting and acting also being very good. Other pictures wero 'The Trifler." a line Rex drama, "Out of the Beast a Man was Bom," a pathetic story; "Ostrich Farming in New Zealand," '/Pimple Shows his Pluck" (comedy), and "The Ranch Stenographer" (comedy).
