OXFORD.

His Excellency the Governor and the Countess of liivorpoi have accepted an invitation to attend the Oxford Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Show on April Ist. On .Saturday the Oxford Methodist Sunday School held its annual picnic. The place chosen was the bush up Luer's track at West Oxford. The day was perfect for the occasion, and a pleasant time was spent. On Sunday the anniversary services were conducted. In ihe morning Mr Faucott jjreached, in the afternoon Mr Kippenberger. and in the evening Mr Cuming. In spite of the wet weather, there were good attendances. The church was prettily decorated with bust fruits and berries, and special and appropriate hymns were sung. A. the afternoon gathering the prizes were distributed. Heavy rain fell throughout the Oxford district on Sunday night and Monday morning, 1.4 inches being reregistered . On Thursday night, in the Oxford Baptist Church, a farewell social was tendered to Pastor C. W. Duncombe, who lias been in, charge of the church for the past two years. and who is proceeding to Dunedin to pursue his studies. Mr T. Baxter presided, and there was a large attendance. Apologies for absence were received from the Revs. J. HoVloway and D. Faueett. Addresses were given b\- Messrs Kippenberger, Cuming. Cull, Shearer and L. Watson. Musical items were contributed by the choir. Mr Waterman, Mrs Knowles, and Misses Waterman and Watson. On behalf of the congregation, the chairman presented Mr Duncombe with a pur so of sovereigns. Mr Duncombe suitably replied. A supper concluded a very successful meeting.
