JEWELLERS' AWARD MADE BY ARBITRATION COURT.

WELLINGTON. March 13. An award was made by tho Arbitration Court in the Wellington jewellers' dispute to-day in terms of the agreement arrived at between tho parties before the Conciliation Commissioner, and is tho first to be made in the trade in the Dominion. It granta a 46J-honr week, in place of 45 hours and 47J worked in different establishments at present, and fixes the minimum wage for journeymen at £3 per week, superseding various existing rates except where these are in excess" and the latter are to rpmaiu. Various conditions are fixed, ratably in relation to tho employment of apprentices, and preference is granted to unionists. The award operates for two years. Working jewellers' unions also hare been, or aro being formed in Dunedin, Auckland, and Christchurch, and aro also presenting demands.
