CASUALTIES.
SHOOTING FATALITY ON THE HILLS. DEATH OF MR F. MOULDEY. Mr Frederick Landor Mouldey, eldest son of Mr E. C. Mouldey, of the firm of Messrs Mouldey and Sons, wine merchants, was found dead on the hills, near Heathcote, on Saturday morning. Mr Mouldey had been out alone, rabbit-shooting, and his gun had gone off, the charge lodging in his throat.
Mr Mouldey was in the habit of going oil on shooting expeditions, and on Friday, following his custom he set out- to shoot rabbits on tho hills above Heathcote. He w/o have gone witli his father to his ' bated at Sumner, and when he- did net put in an appearance, Mr Mouldey. sen.. mado enquiries. On Saturday. Mr King, a neighbour, found Mr i- . Mouidev's dead body on the hills. The late Mr F. Mouldey was. wedknown in volunteer and shooting circles. At one timo he wa., a sergeant in tae old Linwood. Rifles, and was also a prominent member, of the Chnslchur-vi llifio Club Ho was a splendid sunt with the rifle. He took much interest in scientific questions, and had collet-r----ed a number of moa bones and otnev natural history subjects. He was also a good athlete.
