LONDON WOOL SALES
At the wool sales there was animated competition, Yorkshire and American buyers operating keenly. All crossbreds were ten per cent, above la6t sale's prices. (Received March 6th, 0.10 a.m.) LONDON. March 5. The following are tho prices realised for the fleece portions of the clips named:—AVekn, top 13d, average 11 Jd ; Anchor, top 13"d, average 12Jd; Bushy Hill, top 12*.d, average HHd; Toroa, 12* d. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated March sth:— "Tallow—Market quiet. Prices "in general are lower by 3d ncr cwt since our last cablegram. llabbitskins— Good demand. Prices are higher by 2d per lb on tho average." The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile, Agency Co., Ltd., advise having received a cablegram from London giving the undernoted market information: —"Tallow—AYe quote spot values for the following descriptions of tallow: Fino mutton 3os, good beef 33s 9d, mixed 32s 6d. Market quiet." AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS. (By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyrigbt.) (Received March sth, 11 p.m.) LONDON, March 5. The agricultural statistics for 1912 have been issued. They show that the expansion of the world's wheat acreage in 1910-11 received a severe check in 1912. The urea under wheat in tho British Empire declined by 2,287,0'U'J acres, in Europe by 2,024,000 acres (chiefly in Russia), while the United States lost 3.729.000 acres.
In the live stock returns, Australasia's reduction of 9,348,000 animals was the largest noted, but the decline of European stocks was also very marked.
