TOWN HALL SITE.
♦ —. . TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —As the site for the proposed Town Hall and .Municipal Offices seems to be agitating. the public mind, and as several citizens have expressed strong objection to the Victoria square cite, allow mc to suggest that it might be a good thing if tiie Council published a sketch plan in the newspapers, giving the area ,of sVictoria square site,' and approximately the land required out of it for the proposed buildings. This would giyo the, citizens a. clear idea of the position. Then, if those opposed to this site would suggest other suitable sites, and the probable cost of same, the public might be able to form a more definite opinion on tho matter, as it would be n most regrettable thing if a mistake were made in the , initial stages in tho erection of a building, the probable cost of which would be at least £100,000, and which should be a thing of beauty and of joy for over to the people ol Christchurch.—Yours, etc., CITIZEN. • TO TUB EDITOR OF "THB PBB8B." Sir, —Under the auspices of the Si. Albans Burgesses' Association, a -meeting will be liokl this (Wednesday) evening to discuss the cbove project. It is currently reported that quite a number of candidates for the approaching vacancies for the fit. Albnns Ward are in evidence. Taking for granted that each of them has worked out- come definite proposal, may I suggest that their presence and assistance at the meeting would material'} , assist in coming to a fair decision?— Yours, etc., A. D. HASSALL.
