MERINO SCOURING COMPETITION. THE CUP WON BY MR J AS. . STEVENSON. The results of the 1913 merino scouring competition, held under the auspices of the Canterbury A. and P. As- , sociation, were announced at the last meeting of the committee of the Association. The winner in 1913 was Mr Jas. Stevenson, who also-held the cup in 1910 and 1911, and the cup has, therefore, become hie property. Mr Stevenson'e winning fleece on this last occasion was valued at 15s 7.40 d, and was of 60's quality. The greasy fleece weighed 191b, and scourod down to 101b lloz. The fleece wool was valued at 23Jd, and the pieces 20$ d per lb. The next most valued fleece was cut from one of Mr A. W. Rutherford, jun.'s rams, which weighed 161b in the grease, and scoured down to 81b 2oz, the fleece being valued at 23Jd, and the pieces 21d the total value of the fleece being los 4.99 d. The next in order were Messrs Chas. Goulter 14s 11.12 d, A.' W. llutherford, jun. 14s 10.90 d, Chas. Goulter 14e 689 d, Lake Coleridge Ertate 14s 5.83 d, A. W. Rutherford, jun. 14s 3.72 d. Tho best average values were:—Messrs A. "W. Rutherford, jnn. 14s 10.53 d, Jas. Stevenson 13s 1.37 d, Chas. Goulter 12s 11.23 d, Eneor Bros. 12s 3.24 d.

The wool ranged from sS's to 64's in quality, and in price from 21 id to 2Gld per lb for fleec©, and 18.} d to 21 kd for piece*.

Tho finest-woolled sheep entered in the competition were those of Messis Ensor Bros., the quality ranging from 60's to 64's, and the average value of the fleece wool was 24Jd per lb. The fleece wool of one of tho Glenmark Estate rams was valued tho highest per lb, namely, 26id, the quality being softhandling (>4's, the next highest- pricos per lb being Messrs Ensor Bros. 26d and 25d, and J. H. Davisbn 25d.
