MALVERN.
The monthly meeting of tho Malvern County Council was/Oaid yesterday. CoxrouoiKienco was received from the Glenttinuel i>omain Board, complaining that the road on the north-west sido of the Domain was ueed as a dumping ground for ti>e refuse of the township. It was ported out that the police had been notified to take action in tho interest of health also that the Council was only too willing to take action if the residents would help them in detecting offenders. From the Minifter of Public Works, in reply to the Councils protect of last month with regard to tho ruthless cutting down of trees on the Lake Coleridge transmission line. The information supplied to the Minister was not in accordance vnth tacts m possession of tho Council. The majority of the plantations consisted of gums, and to cut these down to 18 and 4o feet practically meant leaving l>are poles. It was difficult to see how their usefulness had not been destroyed. From Selwyn Plantation Board, With regard to the jrravel reserve at Annat. point ; iif: out that this was included in ■the list of plantations in 1010, plthough in the possession of the East Malvern Hon'l Board as far back as 1870. It wns decided to give tho caretakers epeoifi- instructions that they would be held responsible for tho cleanliness and condition of water-rnces under their rr>sTK»rtive cbnrces. The foreman was also to hn instructed as to the necessityfor keeping the roads free of gorso and broom.
