TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." t" \ Sir, —In these days of strepuous muni- : cipal legislation, when the brains of : the Mayor and councillors must be taxed to an abnormal extent for the production of voluminous and irritat- , ing by-laws, it is perhaps too much to • expect that those already in existence should receive any attention or effort at enforcement. I. understand that • there is some .clause, relating to the : encroachment on ' public roadway or footpath of live fences, trees, shrubs, etc. if so, why are the various property owners in this city not brought into line and made to conform with : existing regulation..?' In Ely street there are places where even the cyclists are compelled to dismount or .bo pushed into the road. Ido not. j refer to trees which are- clear of the j beads of passers-by, but to the fences covering half the footpath, which is already too narrow and badly formed. Hoping the Inspector of Nuisances will notice this, Yours etc., PEDESTRLiN.
