THE ARMY AND ULSTER

DISCUSSION IN THE LORDS

(By Cable.—Piere Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, February 13. .

In the House of Lords, Lord Londonderry, speaking on the Address-in-Repiy, incidentally quoted the late Lord "VVolseley's letter to the Duke of Cambridge written in 1893, stating that if troops were brought into conflict 'with Ulster loyalists, it would shake the foundations of the Army.

Lord lloberte followed with a halfminute speech, in which he endorsed Lord Wolseley's contentions, and declared that it was unthinkable that the British Army would be called on to fight t.ho Ulster volunteers. It would be the Army's ruin.

Lord Cur2on pointed out that the Government now confessed that Home Rule in its present form could not bo placed on the Statute Book.
