A MILITARY ACTION

Major Adam is suing Colonel Sir Edward Ward, lato Secretary to the War Office, for libel contained in a letter written in 1910 on behalf of the Army Council to General Scobell, • and communicated to the Press, upholding General Scobell's confidential report.
Major Adam declares that General Scobell's report was a deliberate mis'statement.
Defendant denies publication, an<3 also pleads privilege.
In August, 1910, General Scobell, who was alleged by Major Adam, iv the House of Commons, to have mado deliberate misstatements in a report concerning a military trouble that occurred in 1907, was exonerated by a Board of Inquiry, set up by tho Army Council. The report had reference to tho dismissal of fivo officers of the Fifth Lancers, including Major Adam, on th© ground Jhat they, ;were_ine%:ieiit. •
