NEW YORK, February 11

The skeleton of a prehistoric pigmy has been discovered in the asphalt beds in the neighbourhood of La Brea, in Central America. Local scientists declare that the skeleton belongs to the Pleietocene period.

The bones of a mammoth bear were found near the skeleton.

If later examination bears out the scientists' conclusions, the ekeleton- will be the oldest remains yet found in North America.
