ASHBURTON STOOK MARKET.

The Ashburton stock market was held at tlio Ashburton yards yesterday, when, owing to harvest operations, there was only a moderate attendances, but tlio entry, which comprised chiefly s'ioro sheep, was very much larger than that yarded the previous week at the Tinwaid ynrds. 'ihe total sheep yarded was 7026, and included 335 fat ewes) 03 fat wethers, 61 fat lambs, and 65G7 stores. As was the case the previous week, several lines of ewes yarded in the fat pens, were little better than forward stores, and consequently 110 were passed by auction, while several pens went to graziers. The highest price ruling for fat ewes was 18s and for wethers lite 175, while the only line of fat lambs yarded made 18s. The following range of prices- was obtained: —Prime butchers' ewes 16s to 18s, medium weights 15s 6d to los 9d, light weights 13s 3d, butchers' wethers 17s to 19s Id. lambs 15s 6d to 18s. The yarding of store sheep, which included 1390 wethers, 1913 lambs, the balance being ewes, was far in excess of the demand, and 3786 were passed by auction. Sales were: —79 six and eighttooth halfbred ewes 17s, 53 small store lambs lls, 99 four, six, and eighttqoth crossbred ewos 19s Sd, 159 halfbred wether lambs 13s 3d, 204 crossbred lambs (mixed sexes) 14s sd. 50 at 14s Bd, 48 two-tooth crossbred ewes 20s 3d. 182 sound and fniling-mouth threeqttarterbred ewes 16s, 245 three-quar-terbred lambs (mixed sexes) Js= 6d. Los 4d, 107 Failing-mouth threequarterbred ewes 10s 4d, 489 crossbred wether lambs 13s 3d, 116 full and fail-ing-mouth halfbred ewes 12s 10d, 180 failing-mouth crossbred ewes 8s 6d, 200 crossbred lambs (mixed sexes) 15s 10d. 113 sound-month three-quarterbred ewes (poor .condition) 12s 3d, 64 four and six-tooth half and three-quarter-"bred ewes 18s 3d, 72 sound-mouth 13s, 52 two-tooth (small) 16s, 55, four, six, and eight-tooth halfbred ewes 20s 6d, 41 sound and failing-mouth do. 12s 7d. Thero vns a very small yarding of cattle. Fat steers made £8 7s 6d to £8 15s, fa*, heifers £8 17s 6d, heifers springing £6 12s 6d."
